Despite having an engine malfunction, overturning in the dunes, or being trapped in the mud, the PBX Dakar Team has managed to complete the 2023 edition of the Dakar rally, with a truck of 800 CV and nearly 9000 kilos steered by Jordi Celma. The transport network has participated once more in this sporting challenge to highlight the importance of teamwork and solidarity in races.
The PBX Dakar Team, manned by Jordi Celma, Xavier Moreau, and Claudio Gianformaggio, started its adventure the 27 th of November in Puerto de Marsella, where they headed to Jeddah. Together with Palibex, they have supported the teams of companies such as Alerce, Fieldeas, Llerandi, and Grupo Adarsa.
For the fourth consecutive year, the most demanding rally in the world has taken place in Saudi Arabia, crossing the territory in fourteen stages and a prologue, between the 31 st of December and the 15 th of January. More than 8.500 kilometers through the desert that have made the PBX Dakar Team confront this extreme challenge.
The first stages were not easy for the Team Palibex, that experienced a roller-coaster of emotions. The excitement of the first day was cut short by a malfunction that affected their position, but they were able to overcome a lot of positions in the second stage that was marked by a lot of stones in the field. The strong rains also complicated the journey, similarly to the dunes, that broke part of the truck in a jump.
The final stages also weren’t simple as the water had softened the terrain and they had to perform several assistance efforts. The team had to be rescued, alongside other trucks, buggies, and cars, in the mud that was created as they got closer to the feared Empty Quarter.
The Dakar is unpredictable, and its more important how you finish that how you started. The Palibex Team was able to revert their situation, continue in the race, and progress through all the stages, helping all the vehicles they kept encountering.
To culminate this great achievement, Dammam city, overlooking the Persian Gulf, was waiting for the PBX Dakar Team to get on the podium as “finisher” of the Rally Dakar 2023.
