50% growth of direct routes over the past year
The decentralized model has significantly reduced transit times within the network
The change in the operational model that Palibex designed to shorten transit times for goods, with the help of direct routes for pallet shipping in Spain and new coordination centers—now totaling eight—is reflecting in the results of the network.
Many branches no longer transport goods to Madrid but instead rely on the coordination center closest to their area. This has led to a significant increase in direct routes and the activity of hubs such as Valladolid, which connects the entire northern peninsula from A Coruña to Girona and has seen a 20% increase in volume in just one year.
According to the General Manager, María Luisa Romero, this new system connecting all centers is very positive for franchisees because it allows them to sell in neighboring provinces: ‘They have more cards to play, whether they are growing or simply facing a specific volume increase. In addition, they can establish concentric rates from their location, making them more attractive in nearby provinces.’
Unlike traditional pallet network systems, Palibex franchisees have the right to use any of the coordination centers, which, in María Luisa Romero’s opinion, is another advantage of the model: ‘They can choose the route they want, use their own resources, or coordinate with colleagues in their area to be more efficient.
Alongside the freedom to choose the center that best meets their needs, there is flexibility in using them based on the quantity of merchandise they have. ‘We adapt to volume peaks or seasonal clients. This is crucial in a time of rising prices where optimizing resources to maintain service quality at a competitive price is so important,’ explains Romero.
Palibex is based on a collaborative logistics model that is yielding excellent results, as demonstrated during the pandemic when collaboration proved essential to optimize resources and revive activity of pallet shipping in Spain.
“All of this operational model wouldn’t be possible without a cohesive network and a great team spirit that allows us to save time, reduce costs, extend hours, provide information in advance, and ultimately continue growing in a robust manner,” she states.
