Palibex, the urgent transport network, has integrated the sustainable development goals in their business strategy, for which they will provide and use all the available means to comply with the United Nations 2030 Agenda.
Ana Lobato, Director of People at Palibex, has explained that this adhesion involves formalizing goals that were already part of the company from the start and extend them with new compromises for sustainable development. “Not only big multinationals can collaborate, small companies also play an important role in achieving economic, social and environmental improvements for the benefit of all”.
Palibex will face this challenge in several phases, tackling 9 of the sustainable development goals during the next 10 years, to comply with the recommendation of the 2030 Agenda from the United Nations. The company is currently working in the development of several indicators that will allow them to check and measure periodically the fulfillment of these objectives.
Dissemination of the SDGs
One of Palibex’s main objectives is good health and well-being (SDG 3) since the company has measures to promote the happiness of its employees and road safety programs such as “I drive well”. Similarly, the company wants to focus on the SDG number 8, concerning decent work and economic growth, creating jobs with good work and salary conditions; and in SDG 5, about gender equality, to promote the access of women to high responsibility roles in the transport sector.
For this network, the innovation and respect for the environment are key pillars, and that’s why amongst their objectives they also consider SDG 9 (industry, innovation, and infrastructure); SDG 13 (climate action) to reduce CO2 emissions and reduce environmental impact; and SDG 15 (life below water) to reduce paper use and promote the digital transformation of the company.
Lastly, through their energy efficiency plan, that includes measures such as working in smoke-free environments and the use of electric pallet trucks, Palibex will contribute to the compliance of SDG 7, for affordable and clean energy.
To help disseminate this program and so that other companies in the same sector are also encouraged to integrate it in their strategic plans, Palibex will create a communication campaign on social media with the hashtags #aliadosdelosODS and #soy2023, proposed by the Minister of Social Rights and the 2030 Agenda.
